Bones USA is a new production process we're developing that utilizes an injected thermal plastic to make figures. The equipment we're using is SIOcast out of Spain.
The SIOcast machine injects melted material into the cavities of a silicone mold. The results are impressive, with the plastic castings holding an incredible amount of detail. We're developing the production processes, molds, and procedures so that we can utilize this new technology to its fullest extent.
Currently we're still in what we call our beta production mode, which means we're still moving things around, experimenting with molds and various techniques. For example, check out the photo below of the layout for our new Base Boss inserts – not your standard mold sprue by any stretch.
Bones USA is a process and not a product line. Initially the Bones USA process will be used in two new product lines: Dungeon Dwellers and Reaper Legends.
The #30000 Bones USA line of miniatures will now become Reaper Legends, a multi-genre line for painters, roleplayers, and tabletop gamers. The name of the line is changing, but all miniatures and SKUs will stay the same.
The #7000 Dungeon Dwellers line will focus on fantasy figures and compliment the new Dungeon Dweller adventures we've been posting on reapermini.com. All new and future models in this range will be in Bones USA, and all existing models currently in metal in Dungeon Dwellers (07001-07031) will eventually transition to Bones USA later in 2022.
Both Reaper Legends and Dungeon Dwellers will feature brand new miniatures from your favorite artists, as well as existing miniatures from the Dark Heaven, Chronoscope, and Warlord metal miniatures ranges.
Currently all products produced with the Bones USA process are packaged on Bones USA blister card packaging. However, very soon you'll see each line packaged on their on unique blister cards.
