Koppell Heavy Industry habs come with the option of polarised or plain glass as products like Phototropix do not often find their way to the townships. The polarised glass is vital in some areas of the Iapygian Sink as the glare from the midday sun can be blinding.
Townships are commonly founded by one of the multitude of corporations, they buy the Primary Phase Habs in bulk and transport them and their new residents out in one massive convoy (normally protected by a Peacekeeper contingent) that travels to the intended site of the new township. These convoys are targets for outland raider attacks as although they are heavily defended the resources sent with them are worth their weight in gemsite.
